Large Antique 1899 Solid Sterling Silver & Glass Match Striker Vesta Ball
A fantastic large size and rare shape late Victorian solid sterling silver & glass match striker/vesta ball in lovely condition and with English silver hallmarks for Chester 1899.
Beautiful quality all original example, with a heavy glass base with serrated finish for striking and it has a nice deep silver mounted rim around the match compartment. Measures approx 3.2 inches (82mm) in diameter and is 1.9 inches (46mm) in height. Weighs a heavy approx 348 grams (total) and there are no added personal engraved monograms or initials. Really unusual shape.
Date English antique Victorian solid sterling silver with a full set of English silver hallmarks for Chester 1899, (date letter "Q"). Marks are all readable and the silversmiths initials are "A.B & C" (most probably A Bromet & Co - 1890 - 1906).
Condition Lovely condition with no nasty chips or cracks to the glass body and the silver mounted rim is in great condition with no splits or repairs and no nasty knocks or dents, just a few very minor little surface bruises, really nothing much at all and a beautiful clean example and a genuine 126 years old. Nice big size and a superb rare more uncommon shape. Stunning all original silver mounted match striker and there are no added personal inscriptions.
