Victorian Silver & Gold Niello Work Locket.
The locket features two cicrcular photograph holders to the interior. 
The locket weighs 7.1 grams. Measures 2.5cm side length. 4cm length including bail.
 
Niello is an ancient technique, using a black mixture of powdered silver, copper, lead, and sulphur. This powder, or paste, is applied to the metal, fired until it melts, then left to set as it cools leaving the pattern seen in the photographs.
