Victorian Whitby Jet AEI Memorial Locket - Antique Pendant - Mourning Jewellery

AEI. Amity, Eternity, Infinity. A sentiment of enduring, everlasting love transcending the mortality of human life. This locket has the AEI monogram carved in relief on the front, carved from a single piece of Whitby jet, with faceted sides and a large oval locket compartment at the back (currently home to portrait photograph or a young woman). It's quite clearly a mourning piece, complete with original bail and dating from the 1870s.

Condition: Good antique condition. Note that the loop has worn black enamel.
